Cozumel is one of those places that sticks with you long after you’ve left. This little island off Mexico’s Caribbean coast is famous for its crystal-clear waters, vibrant marine life, and laid-back vibe — and it did not disappoint.

We often started our days at one of the island’s many beach clubs, which are perfect for snorkeling. The reefs right off the shore are incredible — colourful fish, swaying coral, and even the occasional manta ray or eel. Some of our favourites were Playa Azul and The Money Bar — both had easy water access, and delicious food and drinks to enjoy post-swim. Floating in that warm turquoise water with tropical fish swimming below? Absolute paradise.

And speaking of delicious — Cozumel knows how to do fish tacos. Crispy, flavorful, and topped with fresh slaw and creamy sauce — we tried them everywhere from casual beachside spots to more upscale restaurants, and they were always a hit. Pair them with an ice-cold cerveza or a tangy margarita, and you’ve got the perfect beachside meal.

In the evenings, the sunsets over the Caribbean were breathtaking. Watching the sky shift from soft pinks and oranges to deep purples while sipping a cocktail at a waterfront bar was a highlight of the trip.

Cozumel is also a popular cruise ship stop, which brings a fun energy to the town during the day. The main shopping streets are lively, with plenty of local boutiques and markets offering handmade jewelry, colorful textiles, and Mexican crafts. It’s a great place to pick up unique souvenirs — and maybe a bottle of tequila!

The restaurant scene is just as vibrant. From fresh seafood and Mexican classics to cozy Italian spots and trendy fusion restaurants, there’s something for everyone. One night we had fresh-caught grilled snapper at a beachside spot, and another night it was authentic enchiladas in a charming courtyard.

Cozumel has that perfect balance of adventure and relaxation. Whether you’re snorkeling in the morning, shopping in the afternoon, or watching the sunset with a cocktail in hand, it’s the kind of place that makes you feel like you’ve found a little slice of paradise.
